Payments (payouts) — cards in, bank deposits out

What this screen is for. Accept cards online — your money is paid out to your bank automatically, on a rolling schedule. No monthly fees; you pay only the card's actual cost. This tab is the payout rail; invoices and recording payments live on the Payments page. How to get there. Sidebar → Business → Payments. (Every payout button on the Payments page lands here too.) What every button does The status chip — exactly one, always honest: green "Payouts active — automatic deposits to your bank"; a plain-English action-needed line when Stripe wants something ("Stripe needs one more detail — tap Finish setup below," "Stripe is double-checking a detail — usually done within a day"); or "Setup started — just a couple of details left." Set up payouts / Finish setup — about five minutes in Stripe's own secure form (your identity and bank details go to Stripe, never to us). You return right here; once payouts are active the button retires, and the card shows your bank's last digits. Payout history — deposits into your bank, newest first, each with a plain status: Deposited · On the way · Didn't arrive — check your bank details · Canceled. How getting paid works — the three steps: connect your bank → your client pays by card from their report link → money lands in your bank automatically. The fees, in plain English — the whole list: card processing (goes to Stripe) 2.9% + 30¢ per charge · HomeRecon's cut: $0. 0%. Nothing per inspection. · payouts to your bank: free, automatic. The worked example does the math: on a $450 inspection your client pays $450, Stripe's processing cost is $13.35, and $436.65 lands in your bank. HomeRecon never touches your money. What your client sees — their report link opens a pay-to-unlock page with your business name on it; they pay and the report opens as soon as the payment clears. Common questions "Can my clients pay by card?" Yes — activate your Stripe payouts account here (about five minutes) and the card rail switches on. Until then, their report page honestly tells them to arrange payment with you directly. Card payments run in test mode until launch — the setup is real; no live money moves before then. "What does HomeRecon take from my client payments?" Nothing. 0%, $0 per inspection — the only cost is the card's own processing, which goes to Stripe. There's a test in our codebase that fails if that ever changes. "When does the money reach my bank?" Automatically, on a rolling schedule — the Payout history shows every deposit with its date. "Stripe says it needs something — what do I do?" Tap Finish setup; the chip's sentence names the situation, and Stripe's form walks the rest. "A payout says it didn't arrive." Check your bank details in the Stripe form (Finish setup reopens it) — and reach out; we'll help sort it out. Good to know You are the merchant of record — clients pay your Stripe account; HomeRecon is not in the money's path. On the demo account the rail is simulated and says so — "demo mode never moves real money."
